In most rural communities in Nigeria, village health workers and community leaders are the major health care givers. As part of the continuous effort to reach communities with qualitative healthcare, RUCOMEF conducts training for village health workers in UCCU and surrounding communities, with the aim of equipping them with Basic Healthcare Knowledge.

This is to enable them to ensure preventive health measures in their communities; offer appropriate health education and advice, and offer First Aid services in their communities.
30 villagers from UCCU in Niger State participated in the 3 day (March 11-13, 2021) VHW training, conducted by 3 facilitators. It was aimed at equipping opinion leaders in the Villages with Basic Health Knowledge, so that they could ensure preventive health measures in their communities; offer appropriate health education and advice and offer First Aid services in the communities.
15 health topics were taught. It was a highly interactive teaching, with use of audiovisuals, role plays and demonstrations.
