Shortage of healthcare workers and lack of standard healthcare facilities in rural areas have been identified as part of the healthcare challenges in Nigeria rural communities. In most Nigeria rural communities, it is difficult to access surgical services when required, and where such may be accessible it is unaffordable to these poor rural dwellers.
RUCOMEF’s medical team of volunteers offered free medical treatment to 550 members of Yashikira community and surrounding communities. Free surgical procedure was carried out on 72 persons in the community with conditions requiring surgery but as lingered with them due to their inability to afford the cost of such procedure where accessible.
