Free Will Baptist Church Igboho, partnered with RUCOMEF to carry out a free Medical/Surgical outreach at their Church premises and the General Hospital, Igboho between November 7th – 8th, 2022.
PARTICIPATION
In all 16 RUCOMEF Volunteers and the Free Will Baptist Pastors/leaders participated in the outreach. This included 4 Medical Doctors, 7 Nurse/Midwives, 1 Optometrist, 1 Medical Laboratory Scientist, 1 Media personnel, and other personnel who served in the Registration, Protocol/Logistics and Counselling Departments.
ACTIVITIES
The outreach featured , Patient registration, Vital signs check, Counselling, Medical consultation, Laboratory investigations, Eye consultation/dispensing of glasses and dispensing of drugs.
Below is a breakdown of activities carried out:
Outpatient Consultation – There were 445 Outpatient Medical consultations.
Eye Consultations – There were 128 eye consultations; with 86 free eye glasses dispensed
Laboratory Investigations – 39 patients had laboratory investigations including – 9 Malaria Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDT), 25 Blood Sugar tests, 8 Urinalysis tests, 4 Hepatitis B and 8 HIV screenings
Surgeries – 8 surgeries were carried out. These included:
- An extensive recurrent facial Keloid excision and skin grafting (the surgery took about 14 hours)
- 5 Hernia repairs
- A lipoma excision
- A tongue tie release
